Dale is a partner with the firm. Dale focuses his practice on the chemical arts, with a strong emphasis on US and international patent procurement, portfolio management, technology transfer agreements and European opposition practice. Dale has successfully participated in a number of opposition proceedings before the European Patent Office. Dale has significant counseling experience regarding freedom to practice and rendering opinions regarding invalidity and noninfringement of patents. His extensive transaction experience includes licensing, joint development agreements, divestiture, and confidentiality agreements. Dale is experienced in a number of technologies, including graphics materials (including adhesives, films, inks, and application devices), industrial and chemical processes, pharmaceutical and dental products, encapsulated products, polymers, food products, medical dressings, construction products, and cosmetic ingredients.

Dale joined the firm after thirteen years of experience at 3M. While at 3M, he managed the portfolios of a number of significant business units in the company, and additionally managed numerous lawsuits involving patent, trademark, trade secret, and breach of contract claims. Dale began his intellectual property career as a Patent Examiner at the United States Patent and Trademark Office. There, he examined patent applications in fields including the heterocyclic new molecule arts, focusing on compounds having pharmaceutical or herbicidal activity.
