Karrie's experience both in her previous corporate and private practice areas, as well as her training in molecular genetics, enhances the firm's capabilities in the areas of biotechnology, life sciences, food science, chemical arts, medical devices, and mechanical arts. Karrie prepares and prosecutes patents; performs patentability, infringement and invalidity analyses and prepares opinions; manages client portfolios and counsels clients regarding development of patent portfolios; and drafts, reviews, and counsels clients regarding confidentiality agreements, license agreements, consulting agreements, and advisory board agreements.

Prior to joining the firm, Karrie was Senior Patent Counsel at General Mills, Inc., where she managed U.S. and international patent portfolios and performed significant counseling functions for the Pillsbury heritage business units. In this role, she advised the technical community and senior management regarding patent and trade secret strategy, drafted technology agreements, and provided client education relating to the protection of proprietary information. Karrie additionally has worked as an associate at the law firms of Merchant & Gould, P.C. and Fredrikson & Byron, P.A., both in Minneapolis. Additionally, she was a patent law clerk at the Forest Products Laboratory of the United States Forest Service in Madison, Wisconsin.
