Dan is one of the managing partners of the firm. Dan is available to counsel clients on all aspects of intellectual property, such as negotiating and drafting intellectual property agreements, preparing and prosecuting patent applications, and drafting patent non-infringement and invalidity opinions.

Prior to joining Kagan Binder, Dan gained significant experience as an in-house intellectual property counsel for 3M, where he managed the intellectual property portfolio of divisions with total sales in excess of $400 million per year. After his four years of service at 3M, Dan was an associate at the Minneapolis law firm of Faegre & Benson.

Dan's experiences include management of United States and international intellectual property portfolios; development of intellectual property strategies; preparing and negotiating technology transfer, joint development, and secrecy agreements, patent infringement and trade secret litigation; due diligence review of mergers and acquisitions; and drafting legal opinions relating to the validity, enforceability, or infringement of United States patents.

Areas of technology with which Dan has worked include chemical materials and processing, pharmaceuticals, medical device and surgical implant technologies and related methods, agricultural technologies, semiconductor manufacturing technologies, and food technologies.
