Scott helps to manage the firm's chemical practice group. He works with a wide range of clients ranging from start up firms to Fortune 100 companies. Scott's practice emphasizes U.S. and foreign patent application drafting and prosecution, agreement negotiation and drafting, preparation of opinions on patent infringement and validity, due diligence investigations, and client counseling for chemical and pharmaceutical technologies. These technologies have included polymers, adhesives, release coatings, radiation curable materials, abrasives, microstructured products, composites, semiconductor manufacturing technologies, industrial and chemical processes, agricultural products, and food products.

Scott joined the firm after gaining significant experience as corporate intellectual property counsel with Cargill, Incorporated and 3M Company. In these positions, Scott managed the intellectual property matters for business units having annual revenues exceeding 500 million dollars. Prior to joining the firm, Scott also gained industrial experience in polymer chemistry, radiation curable coatings, adhesives, and construction and tape products while performing research at 3M Company. As a result of this work, Scott was named an inventor on two issued U.S. patents.
