Jim is an intellectual property attorney who has a wide range of experience in the US and international patent procurement, portfolio management, technology transfer agreements and European and Japanese opposition proceedings. Jim has significant counseling experience regarding freedom-to-practice matters, validity/invalidity opinions, and non-infringement opinions relating to patents. His transactional experience includes drafting licensing, joint development, divestiture, acquisition and confidentiality agreements.

Jim has experience with a wide variety of technologies including polymer design and manufacture, chemical processing, medical devices, reflective sheeting, and molding processes.

Jim joined the firm in 2005 after 37 years at 3M. During his time at 3M he managed the patent portfolios of several businesses at 3M. Additionally, he managed a number of lawsuits involving patented technologies.
